木津川アートフェスティバルで制作した作品。 かつて漁業組合が軍隊に供給する川魚の養殖事務所に使っていた取り壊し寸前の建物でのインスタレーション。 プラスチックの使い捨てのレンゲを使って蓮の花を作り、天井から吊るした。 蓮の花びらに似ているからレンゲと呼ばれるこのスプーンを使いながら 私たちはその言葉の意味を思い出すことはあまりない。 言葉の意味を物質に再度呼び戻すための試みとしてレンゲで蓮花を再構成した。 その花を天井から同じ高さに吊るすことによって、私たちの脳内には自動的に架空の水面が生成される。 朽ちて歪み、ボコボコになった畳の上に私たちの脳が勝手に描き出す水面はあくまでも滑らかでフラットだ。 かつてここにあった漁業組合、いくつかはもう干上がった鯉の養殖池、そこで生み出されていた食べ物 それらの記憶にリンクしていく風景となる。

This work was created at the Kizugawa Art Festival. The installation took place in a building on the verge of demolition that was once used as an office for the fish farming of river fish supplied by a fishermen’s association to the army. I made lotus flowers out of disposable plastic spoons and hung them from the ceiling.
We don’t often think about the meaning of the word while using this spoon, which is called a “renge” (it means “lotus flower” in Japanese) because it resembles the petals of a lotus flower.
I reconstructed the lotus flower with the spoon as an attempt to recall the meaning of the word again to the material.
By hanging the flower at the same height from the ceiling, an imaginary water surface is automatically generated in our brains. The surface of the water that our brains create on the rotting, distorted and battered tatami mats is smooth and flat.
A fishermen’s cooperative that used to be here, some dried up koi ponds, and the food that was produced there. The scenery is linked to our memories.
